App/Service: Latent Story, including our website, mobile apps, and related services (the “Service”).

1) What this Privacy Policy covers

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use the Service, including when you submit prompts, text, images, and other content to generate stories, pages, or illustrations (“User Content”).

We aim to provide clear notice and meaningful transparency—because unclear privacy notices undermine user understanding and can create compliance and trust risk.

2) Information we collect

A. Information you provide

• Account info: name, email, username, password (hashed), profile settings.
• User Content: story prompts, uploaded images (e.g., character photos), text inputs, edits, feedback, and generated outputs you save.
• Payments: (if applicable): billing address and transaction metadata. *(Payment card details are typically handled by a payment processor and not stored by us directly.)*
• Support communications: messages you send to support, bug reports, attachments.

B. Information we collect automatically

• Device & usage data: device type, OS/app version, identifiers, language, timestamps, session activity, feature usage, crash logs.
• Log data: IP address, approximate location (derived from IP), request logs, diagnostics.
• Cookies/SDKs: (web): cookies, local storage, analytics tags (as applicable).

C. Sensitive data (special handling)

Please do not upload sensitive personal data (e.g., government IDs, medical data) unless the Service explicitly asks for it. If you upload it anyway, you understand you’re choosing to share it with us for processing to provide the Service.

3) How we use information

We use information to:

1. Provide the Service: (generate stories/illustrations, save projects, sync across devices).
2. Maintain safety & security: (prevent abuse, fraud, unauthorized access).
3. Improve performance: (debugging, reliability, feature improvements).
4. Personalize: your experience (remember settings, recommendations).
5. Communicate: (service updates, security notices, support responses).
6. Comply with law: and enforce our Terms.

4) AI processing & generated content

Because the Service may generate text and images:

• We may process User Content to produce outputs you request (e.g., story pages, illustrations).
• Human review: We do not routinely allow humans to review User Content, except for support requests or investigating abuse/security incidents.

Model improvement / training

We use customer data to train our AI and improve our systems.

By using the Service, you acknowledge and agree that we may use your User Content (including prompts, text, and generated images) to train our artificial intelligence models, refine our algorithms, and improve the overall quality of our Service. This helps us generate better stories and illustrations for everyone.

Exception: If you are a subscriber to our Pro Plan, we will not use your User Content for model training (or will provide a setting to opt-out).

5) When we share information

We may share information with:

A. Service providers (processors)

Vendors that help run the Service, such as:

• Hosting/cloud infrastructure
• Analytics/crash reporting
• Customer support tools
• Payment processors
• AI model providers (text/image generation)

They may access information only to perform services for us, under contractual confidentiality and security obligations.

B. Legal, safety, and enforcement

We may disclose information if we believe it’s necessary to:

• comply with law, regulation, subpoena, or court order
• protect rights, safety, and security of users, the public, or the Service
• investigate fraud or policy violations

C. Business transfers

D. With your direction

If you choose to publish/share outputs publicly or send them to third parties, we share as you instruct.

6) Data retention

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes described above, including:

• while your account is active
• to maintain logs for security and debugging
• to comply with legal obligations

We delete or anonymize project content within 30 days after you delete it, unless retention is required for legal/security reasons.

7) Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information (e.g., access controls, encryption in transit, monitoring). However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8) Your choices & rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

• access, correct, or delete personal data
• withdraw consent (where we rely on consent)
• object to certain processing
• request portability
• opt out of marketing
